I chose it after a moment of crowd-sourcing on a call. I was debating between Chayote Squash and Jicama, and the room had opinions. Jicama got a long, collective ohhh. Chayote Squash got a definitive ugh. That settled it.Despite growing up in the Southwest, I didn't try jicama until middle school. My first experience was at a nicer hotel restaurant in San Diego during a family vacation, which, in retrospect, makes sense.
